Supporting Someone Grieving

Supporting Someone grieving

Knowing what to say and how to comfort someone during bereavement, grief, or loss can be terrifying. You may not know what to say or do when someone you care about is grieving.

In such a difficult time, it may be very difficult not to be worried about intruding, saying the wrong thing, or making your loved one feel even more hurt. It’s possible that you don’t think you can do much to provide comfort and support.

Don’t let your discomfort stop you from supporting a grieving person in their time of need.

The lived experiences of those who have experienced the death of a loved one, or who are supporting someone who has been bereaved, can help you gain the skills and confidence needed to help you become available and better support to someone grieving.

With your help and support, your loved ones will cope with the grief, loss and gradually begin to rebuild their lives.
